Ecogenomics biologist Cory Fournier attended the Ontario boreal caribou knowledge plan workshop on the 18-10th October 2023.
This 2 days workshop was hosted by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) and Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) and held in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The workshop brought together various stakeholders including municipal, provincial, and federal public servants, industry representatives, and academic researchers. At the workshop, the Ontario government shared information about the Boreal Caribou Knowledge Plan and invited speakers and staff to present on the current state of knowledge for boreal caribou in Ontario. The workshop was interactive and focused on identifying caribou-related knowledge gaps, critical uncertainties, and science/knowledge priorities. The attendees also networked and explored opportunities for collaboration and partnerships.
